It  looks like Beto’s stage is a little less wobbly than my stage was at the New Year’s Day Biggest Workout.  But I had just as much fun I’m sure.  Thanks Columbia for the invitation!  Here a little Zumba with Beto in Paris.  I have trained with him three times and, yes, he is amazing!

Zumba Parties are great for birthday parties, convention breakouts, or employee health events.   I can provide Zumba classes of any length – 20 minutes to an hour.  They can be fun Latin dance parties with no partner needed, moderate aerobic activities, or can specialize on one form of dance such as belly dance.  Add some chips and salsa and you have a fun event!  Price depends on number of people, type of event and location.  Garages and basements make great “girls night in” locations.  Church gymnasiums, conference rooms or even office waiting rooms can become a place to shake it!  Zumba events can be adapted to any group, any age and any fitness level.

Just a note that I am taking a short break from my usual 5-7 evening classes.  I don’t plan any evening classes in January.  I am focusing right now on obtaining my yoga RYT 200 certification and also starting a number of yoga classes as well as adding to my personal training and private pilates clients.  Watch my website or drop me a note by e-mail if you want me to inform you of new classes.  I will be starting “drop-in” classes in both Columbia and Jefferson City in March.

Zumba is being canceled for now because of construction at Show-Me Yoga Center.  The temporary location for the yoga studio is not of sufficient size for our “traveling” moves!

I can teach you this dance, but I can’t show you the moves that Priscilla makes so I have to show you her video.  The samba song “Love, Love” is by Ceceu  Muniz.  And yes, I believe Priscilla is from Brazil!

If you know someone that prefers a slower Zumba, have them join me for the new Zumba Gold class at the Capital Region Medical Center Healthplex. For more information on Zumba Gold check the page at the right or e-mail me for details.  Zumba Gold is held every Thursday at 9 a.m.  It is free to members or $5 for drop-ins to this 45-minute class.  You can also try my Light and Low Yoga class at 10 a.m.  following Zumba Gold.  (And then you can join me for lunch in the Capital Region cafeteria next door!!)

This week we add another Yankee Daddy song, “Controlando el Area.”  I know you love Daddy Yankee!  The choreo is by my friend Chris.  We spent a great lunch on the floor of the Peabody while I waited in line to buy, of course, new Zumbawear!!

Here is a video that one of the members of my Zumba ZIN family made telling how Zumba has changed her life.  Randy Baez teaches in Florida.

Here is the new salsa song I just added to class.   For those joining me for the first time this week – a salsa basic is a step right to the right (1) step left in place (2) step the right back by the left (3) and hold (4) then reverse.  Although a lot goes into my song/dance choices including getting a variety of styles, working different parts of the body, mixing high and low for interval training, etc. one deciding factor is finding songs I think sound “fun” or songs that I really like.  This is one of them.  Peforming it is Willy Chirino.  Sorry the quality isn’t the best.  Practice now!  Cross front  (r,l,r,hold) reverse, etc.  and try some varieties of the salsa basic such as front and back to this performance of “Los Campeones de la Salsa.”

Your practice video for January.  This is from Jesus in Mexico.  He’s a favorite right now among Zumba teachers.  We call him by his nickname “Bordermex” and this is his version of “Pachuca” by Kumbia Kings.
